First, make sure you get the okay from your vet. Minkie gets car sick and is a typical nervous nelly in the car. Cleo, in contrast, wants to be in the car even if just to sit there. But, the vet said with some dramamine, Minkie will be fine (qtr. of a tab).
I had them both checked out at DTLA Vet in Los Angeles and ensured we had hard copies of their vaccination records, especially the Rabies Cert. You can't get into some RV parks or Canada without this in hard copy form. So put it in the glovebox with your passport.
Next, is the actual transport. I purchased the Sherpa Original Deluxe Carriers on Amazon and Cleo loves hers. Minnie needs some coaxing, but I wouldn't be able to drive undistracted by them with out them each being in theirs. I am glad I got the large. My dogs are both under 15 pounds, so you would think small, but no! Minnie barely fits in hers. They are a great value and sturdy. Lots of venting and you can load your pet at the top or front. They are also approved for airline travel.
